SHOREBREAK
The bands origins began in the summer of 96. Sometime in July, Ed Mahiko held his annual summer party at his home in Morgan Hill, CA. Its a great place for summer barbeques because the kids can go swimming while the adults do their own thing. A few months earlier, his cousin Augie Kim had asked Ed to teach him to play bass, and Aug was determined to get better. Aug brought both Ed Salvador and Reis Santana and their families to the party. The guys started to jam a few tunes. It was pretty rough, but they all admitted it was fun, and that they should do it again. From that point forward, the guys met once a week to practice, with few exceptions. Ed (Salvador) mentioned the Sunday Jam at the Templebar in Berkeley. He said it was an “open mic,” so they decided to check it out.
